Privacy & Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This Privacy & Cookie Policy explains how UK Vehicle Statistics ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects information when you use vehiclestats.co.uk (the "Site"). We are committed to handling data responsibly and in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. The data we show
The Site presents vehicle MOT test history sourced from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) MOT History API. This information relates to vehicles, not to identifiable individuals, and is derived from publicly available records. We do not hold the name or address of any vehicle keeper. If you believe information shown about a vehicle is inaccurate, please contact us and we will work to correct it.
2. Information we collect from you
- Search input: the registration(s) you enter to look up a vehicle. This is processed to return results and is not stored against your identity.
- Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) used for security and to keep the Site running.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see the Cookies section below.
3. Cookies and advertising
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary — required for the Site to function. These do not require consent.
- Analytics — Google Analytics (GA4) helps us understand how the Site is used so we can improve it. These cookies are only set after you consent.
- Advertising — we display ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads. Where required, ads are limited to non-personalised until you consent.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on the Site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can review and control how Google uses data at google.com/technologies/partner-sites and opt out of personalised advertising at google.com/settings/ads. You can also manage your choices for this Site at any time via the Cookie settings link.
4. Legal basis
We process strictly necessary data on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating a secure website. Analytics and advertising cookies are processed on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
5. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
6. Data retention & security
Server logs are retained only as long as necessary for security and operational purposes. We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
